If you’ve exhausted your local music collection and are looking for something new, then one of the best ways is to use a good Internet radio app. myTuner Radio is one such app that lets you access a wide range of radio stations and podcasts with just a few taps. Let’s take a look at some of the important features of myTuner Radio and its usage.

Features of myTuner Radio App

Loads of AM, FM, and Online Radio Stations: The best thing about myTuner Radio is that it gathers in all the radio stations available in nearly 200 different countries and territories. This gives you access to over 50,000 AM, FM, and online radio stations. No matter what country you are from and what your tastes are, you can find a radio station that you will like. There is also a built-in equalizer to improve your listening experience. Proper options to filter radio stations: With all those radio stations, it is important that you have proper filtering options. myTuner Radio does have decent options to quickly filter radio stations based on country, state, city, local, news, and genres like indie, folk, electronic, international, pop music, etc. Listen to podcasts: Apart from regular radio stations, you can also use myTuner Radio for listening to podcasts. Just like with the radio stations, podcasts are divided into various categories like science and technology, health, music, news and politics, comedy, arts, etc. If need be, you can download podcasts to your SD card and enjoy them offline. It’s a very useful feature if you travel frequently. Alarm and timer support: myTuner Radio has built-in support for an alarm and timer. When you set an alarm or timer, you can choose your favorite radio station as the ringtone. It’s a great feature if you like listening to your favorite radio station first thing in the morning. Multi-platform support: Other than Android, myTuner Radio also supports other platforms like Windows desktop, Windows Phone, iOS, and macOS. For Windows desktop you can either download the regular desktop version or the UWP version from the Microsoft Store if you are using Windows 10. There is also a Web version with almost the same functionality.

App Usage

The app is very simple and straightforward to use. In fact, there are no complex settings or configurations to deal with. Just install myTuner Radio from the Play Store and open it. The app uses location data to automatically select the country you live in and displays all the top stations by default. By sliding left or right, you can access other sections like news, pop music, local, recommended, etc.

To switch between stations, podcasts, and search, you can use the bottom menu.

If you would like to change the country settings, simply tap on the flag icon appearing in the upper-right corner and choose whatever country you like. Depending on the country, the suggestions will change under the Top Stations section. While listening to a radio station or podcast, simply drag the playback card to the top, and you will see all the playback controls. There is nothing fancy here, just your basic controls with additional options to set an alarm, add to favorites, sleep timer, etc.

To access the Settings panel, click on the user icon in the top navigation bar. Being a simple app, all you have are the options to enable and customize the alarm and sleep features. Additionally, on top of the settings screen you can see all the tasks you can do to unlock the Equalizer feature.

If you are using the myTuner Radio app on multiple devices, then you can optionally sign up for a free account. This allows myTuner Radio to sync all your favorites and other settings.

Conclusion

Though I’m not a radio person, I’ve changed my routine from listening to audiobooks in the morning to listening to podcasts and a couple of radio stations. I’ve really enjoyed the experience. That being said, one glaring problem I found in my daily usage is that there is no way to stop the playback using the play/pause button on my earphones. Well, at least it did not work for me. Other than that one complaint, the app is pretty good at what it does. One thing to keep in mind is myTuner Radio requires an active Internet connection to work. As for the limitations in the free version, there are ads and it locks the equalizer feature. But you can easily unlock the equalizer by doing certain tasks like adding favorites, listening to at least one podcast, using alarm and timer features, etc. Of course, if you don’t want to go through that, you can unlock the feature right away and get rid of the ads with a one-time in-app purchase of $3. All in all, myTuner Radio is a good little app with all the basic features you will ever need. Being that it’s free, you can give it a try and see how it works for you. Download myTuner Radio
